Bicycle Rentals

  • Bicycle Rentals
    • The Yawata City Tourism Association has set up three bicycle rental service locations in the city.
      All rental bicycles (except for the power assist electric bicycles) can be returned to any of the three locations.
    • *Power assist electric bicycles can only be rented from and returned to the Iwashimizu-hachimangu Station Tourist Information Center. Renters are required to present identification when applying to rent these bicycles.
    • Rental bicycles can also be used for any purposes other than sightseeing.
    • All bicycles are 26-inch bicycles.

Iwashimizu-hachimangu Station Tourist Information Center

  • Address

    8-7 Yawata-takabo, Yawata-shi, Kyoto (inside the Yawata City Tourist Information Center)

    Tourist Information Center in front of Keihan Iwashimizu-hachimangu Station

  • Return locations

    Park the bicycle at the Renta-Cycle-Kan, and return the key to the Tourist Information Center.

    20 bicycles with transmission, 8 power assist electric bicycles.

    On Mondays in February and June through October (except public holidays)

Shokado Garden

  • Address

    9:00-16:30

    Reception desk at the entrance to Shokado Garden

  • Return locations

    Park the bicycle in the designated location at the garden entrance, and return the key to the Shokado Garden reception desk

    5 bicycles with transmission.

  • Closed

    On Mondays (Open on public holidays that fall on Mondays, and closed the following business day)

Shikisai-kan

  • Address

    10:00-16:30

    Shikisai-kan Office

  • Return locations

    Park the bicycle in the designated location at Shikisai-kan, and return the key to the Shikisai-kan Office.

    10 bicycles with transmission.

  • Closed

    On Mondays (Open on Mondays during summer vacation. Open on public holidays that fall on Mondays, and closed the following business day)

Rental Procedure

Apply

Visit a rental location, sign-up and pick up the key.
*Renters are required to present identification (drivers license, passport, etc.) when signing-up to rent pedal-assist electric bicycles, but not for other bicycles.

Pay

Renters are required to pay the rental fee and a security deposit in advance.
The security deposit will be returned when the bicycle is returned.

    Rental Fees

  • Bicycles with transmission: 500 yen per rental
  • Power assist electric bicycles (only at the Yawata City Tourism Association): 1,000 yen per rental
  • Security deposit: 500 yen

Ride

You will be given a numbered key.
Go to the designated location and pick up the bicycle with the corresponding number.
Adjust the saddle height, check the brakes and the air in the tires, and enjoy your ride around the city.

Return

Park the bicycle at the designated location at one of the facilities within the rental hours for that facility, and return the key to the reception desk. Note that bicycles can be returned to any of the three locations: the Iwashimizu-hachimangu Station Tourist Information Center, Shokado Garden, or Shikisai-kan. (Pedal-assist electric bicycles must be returned to the Iwashimizu-hachimangu Station Tourist Information Center.)

Important Notes

  • Rental bicycles are so popular during the sightseeing season (spring and autumn) that sometimes all of them are rented out before noon.
  • If you notice something wrong with the bicycle you have been given, request a different bicycle.
